Shadowball is actor, singer, poet and master storyteller Rochel Garner Coleman’s production commissioned by the Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles. The story opens to the sounds of a Negro League baseball game taking place in Chicago in 1922 where we meet James Thomas Bell, aka Papa Bell, a 19-year-old pitcher for the St. Louis Stars, and himself a super star in the history of black baseball. This thoroughly absorbing, superbly staged performance vibrantly brings history to life.
