The State Theatre, a 501(c)(3), privately funded nonprofit organization, places great importance on the education and enrichment of our community’s youth. Our goal is to reach youngsters with relevant programs that not only entertain, but empower and ignite a passion for learning about the arts. So deeply does The States Board of Directors believe in the value of its Youth Education Program to our community, that all programs, all of which meet California State Content and Common Core Standards and are accompanied by a curriculum guide, are offered to school-age children and their schools at no charge. Our program introduces youngsters to the performing arts, develops arts literacy, and inspires a lifelong appreciation for the arts and the theater-going experience. Many of the children attending The State’s YEP are low-income and at-risk, and all fall within the five-county sphere (Stanislaus, San Joaquin, Amador, Tuolumne and Calaveras counties) overseen by The State’s partner in these programs, the Stanislaus County Office of Education (SCOE).
